Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 5, 2026
Texas Power Search LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
When you use the comparison tool on texaspowersearch.com, we collect:
- Your ZIP code and estimated monthly kWh usage. These are what we need to rank plans for your specific household. We use them in the moment to compute your estimated bill and don’t store them tied to your identity.
- Standard web traffic information like your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL. This is collected automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel) and any analytics we run on the site. We use this to improve the site, not to identify you personally.
- Email address (only if you give it to us). We don’t have a newsletter or account system right now. If we add one later, we’ll only email you what you signed up for.
We do not collect your name, address, phone number, Social Security number, payment information, or any other personally identifying information through the comparison tool itself.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not use your ZIP and usage information for any purpose other than ranking plans for you.
- We do not collect data from anyone we know to be under 13.
Affiliate links and provider sign-ups
When you click “Sign Up” on a plan, you leave Texas Power Search and continue on the electricity provider’s website. At that point, you’re under their privacy policy, not ours. We may receive a confirmation that you enrolled (so the provider knows to pay us a commission), but the provider (not us) collects whatever information they need to start your service.
For more on how we make money, see our commission disclosure below or read our About page.
Cookies
Our site uses standard cookies for functionality (e.g., remembering that you’ve already entered a ZIP). We don’t use third-party advertising cookies. If you want to clear or block cookies, your browser settings let you do that.
Third-party services we rely on
- Vercel hosts the site and may collect basic analytics (pageviews, geographic region). Vercel’s privacy policy
- GitHub hosts our source code (no user data flows here)
- Anthropic is used by our backend scraper to interpret electricity plan documents (no user data flows here)
- Google Workspace handles our email (info@, victor@). If you email us, your message is stored by Google.
Your rights
You can email info@texaspowersearch.com at any time to:
- Ask what data we have associated with you (almost certainly nothing identifying)
- Request deletion of any data we have
- Ask questions about this policy
If you’re a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The same applies if you’re covered by Texas’s Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA) or other state privacy laws. Email us and we’ll respond.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and post the new version here. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
