About Texas Power Search
We help Texans find the cheapest electricity plan for their home, without the marketing tricks, teaser rates, or hidden fees that make most comparison sites feel like a maze.
Why we exist
Over 26 million Texans live in deregulated electricity zones. That means you have to choose your provider, and you should be able to choose the cheapest plan for your actual household. But the official state site (PowerToChoose.org) ranks plans by an “advertised rate” that’s often misleading because it only applies at one specific monthly usage level. Plug in 1,200 kWh instead of 1,000 and the “cheapest” plan is suddenly $30 more.
We built Texas Power Search to fix that. Enter your ZIP and your monthly usage, and we show you the real estimated total bill for every plan in your area: base charge, energy charge, TDU delivery fee, and any usage-based credits, ranked from lowest to highest. Same data, honest math.
Who we are
Texas Power Search is a Texas LLC, headquartered in Frisco at 5 Cowboys Way (The Star). We’re a PUCT-registered electricity broker (registration number BR240033, active since February 2024).
Our CEO and founder is Brooks Cuevas, 13 years old, in middle school in Frisco, and a 2026 graduate of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) of Frisco, Texas. Brooks built and named Texas Power Search as her YEA capstone, then turned it into a real company, not a school project. The teen-founder story is part of who we are, not something we hide.
The operator and authorized representative is Victor Cuevas, Brooks’s father. Victor manages day-to-day operations and signs the legal documents. (He’s also the human Texans email if they have questions about the site.)
How we make money
We earn a commission from electricity providers when you enroll through our site. This commission does not change the rate you pay. Providers build broker commissions into their pricing at the market level. Whether you sign up through us, through PowerToChoose, or directly with the provider, the underlying cost is the same.
We disclose this on every page because PUCT Rule 25.486 requires it, and because we think you should know how a website you’re trusting with your bill makes its money.
We rank plans by lowest estimated total monthly bill for your usage, regardless of which provider pays us more. If a $0-commission plan beats a $150-commission plan, the $0 plan goes on top.
Giving back
10% of every commission we earn goes to The Storehouse of Collin County in Plano, Texas, a local food pantry and community-services nonprofit serving families in our area. When you save money on your electricity bill through us, a portion of what we earn helps stock their shelves. Learn more at thestorehousecc.org.
