What we collect

When you search, we send your street address, apartment or unit, and ZIP through our hosting service to ComparePower to match your electric service and find plans. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which plans get clicked. The comparison form does not collect your name, email, phone number, or payment details, and we never sell anything about you. When you click through to enroll, your ZIP, your usage, and the plan you picked go to Compare Power, and their privacy policy takes over from there.

Address suggestions and service-area checks

When address suggestions are enabled, the text you type is sent through our server to Google Maps after a short pause. Selecting a suggestion retrieves its street address, ZIP and location. Google’s privacy policy and Maps terms apply. You may also enter your address manually.

When you search a selected address, we may also check its location against public electric-service boundaries hosted by Esri for the PUCT and CoServ. These maps are approximate. Area-based plan prices do not confirm availability at your home. We do not treat a missing address or an overlapping boundary as proof that you cannot choose a provider. The selected address and its signed, short-lived location token stay in page memory; we do not save them in browser storage, analytics, or a customer database.

What happens when I watch a video?

Our featured video covers are served from this website. We do not load a YouTube player until you press play. At that point, your browser connects to YouTube through its privacy-enhanced embed domain, youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube receives technical information such as your IP address, browser information and the referring site, and its policies apply to playback. Privacy-enhanced mode does not mean no data is processed. You can compare electricity plans without playing any videos.

Our social profile links open the relevant platform in a new tab. Its privacy policy applies when you visit. See Google’s privacy policy for YouTube.

Partner applications and referrals

If you apply to our referral program, we store your name, email, city, preferred language, promotion description and consent with Supabase. Authorized operators review applications and administer rewards. We retain these records as needed for program administration and payment recordkeeping; contact victor@texaspowersearch.com to request correction or withdrawal.

Referral links create a random token stored in your browser under tps_referral. The first active referral is credited for 30 days in that browser. We link that token to the referring partner, and send it to ComparePower as the visitor identifier. We store matching order IDs, status, commission, dates and payment references to verify rewards. Clearing storage or changing devices can prevent attribution. We do not request customers’ account or payment details in this program. Supabase and our hosting providers process requests and security logs; hashed request identifiers temporarily limit abuse.

What happens when I enter my address?

Typing alone does not send a search. When you select Find my plans, we send your service address, apartment or unit, ZIP, and language through our server to ComparePower. Its response identifies matching meters, utility, county and service status. We request current plans only for a matched service address. If the match is uncertain, you choose the correct address. We do not request usage history, credit checks or payment information.

Address searches use request bodies, not page URLs. Our application does not save or log your address or meter number and does not send them to analytics. ComparePower processes the lookup under its privacy policy. Usage buttons re-sort plans already in your browser. If the lookup fails, we do not substitute ZIP-based plans.

What does Google Analytics collect?

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people find the site and whether it actually helps them. It sets cookies in your browser (their names start with_ga) and records the standard things: pages viewed, roughly where you are based on your IP address, your device and browser, and how you got here.

We also record these comparison events:

• When a search starts or finishes: the page language, whether the API returned plans, result counts, and response time. These events do not include the ZIP or contact information.
• When an address check finishes: its outcome and verification status; a matched meter adds utility and county. Never the street address, meter number, or switch-hold details. Unresolved searches are not classified as noncompetitive.
• When plans appear: the utility territory, the usage level you picked, the selected provider filter, and how many matching plans were available and shown.
• When you click through to a plan: the plan ID, the provider name, the utility territory, your usage level, that plan's rate and estimated monthly bill, and the visitor token described below.

Google's terms for what they do with that data are atpolicies.google.com/privacy. If you run an ad blocker or a privacy extension, it almost certainly blocks all of this already, and the site works exactly the same without it.

What is the visitor token, and why does it exist?

The first time you visit, your browser generates a random token and saves it in local storage under tps_vid. It looks liketps.mtgov3e2.knt40m06. It is random. It is not derived from anything about you, and it cannot be turned back into a name, an address, or a device.

Here is the honest reason it exists. We get paid a commission when someone enrolls, but the enrollment finishes on Compare Power's site, not ours. Without a token we would know a commission arrived and have no idea which visit earned it. The token rides along with your click and comes back attached to the commission report, so we can tell which parts of this site actually help people and which are wasting your time.

You can delete it any time by clearing site data for this site in your browser. A new random one gets created on your next visit.

What leaves this site when I click through to enroll?

The enroll button sends you to Compare Power, our marketplace partner. The link carries the plan you picked, the usage level you chose, your ZIP code, the matched utility identifier, our affiliate ID, and the visitor token. Partner application details are not included in that link.

From that point you are on Compare Power's site and their privacy policy applies, not ours. Anything you type into the actual enrollment, your name, your service address, your account details, you are giving to them and to the electricity provider.We never collect payment information, on this site or anywhere else.

The site also links out to official Electricity Facts Labels hosted by the providers, and to powertochoose.org, the state's own site. Those are ordinary links. Once you follow one, that site's rules apply instead of these.

What do you receive back after an enrollment?

Compare Power reports our commissions to us: which provider, which plan, the amount, the date, and the visitor token that brought the click. That is what we need to get paid and to keep the 10% giving ledger honest.

Their system can also return customer names and service addresses to brokers who have signed a data-use agreement under PUCT rule 25.486. We have not signed one and have not enabled that access. We do not need your identity to do this job, so we would rather not hold it.

Do you sell my information?

No. We do not sell, rent, or trade anything about you, and we do not buy or sell advertising on this website. YouTube controls any advertising within its video player, which loads only when you choose to play a video. The only money in this business is the commission a provider pays when you enroll, which isdisclosed before every recommendation.

What about server logs?

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, their servers keep standard request logs that include IP addresses. We do not build profiles from them and we do not connect them to anything else described on this page.

How do I opt out?

• Clear cookies and site data for texaspowersearch.com in your browser. That removes the analytics cookies and the visitor token together.
• Install Google's official Analytics opt-out add-on, which blocks Google Analytics everywhere, not just here.
• Use any ad blocker, or a browser with tracking protection turned on. Analytics stops and the plan comparison keeps working.
• Email victor@texaspowersearch.com and ask what we hold on you. Given everything above, the honest answer is almost always "nothing we could tie to you."

Is this site for children?

No. It is built for the person who pays the electricity bill, and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email victor@texaspowersearch.comand we will delete it.

Who is responsible, and how do I reach them?

Texas Power Search LLC, Frisco, Texas. Registered electricity broker with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, #BR240033. Questions about anything on this page go tovictor@texaspowersearch.com, and a person reads them.

If we change what we collect, we will change this page and move the date below. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave this page the way it was.
