The bill that started a business

Texas Power Search is a family-run electricity comparison site based in Frisco, Texas. It was founded by Brooks Cuevas, a teenage entrepreneur and 2026 graduate of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy in Frisco, and is operated by her dad, Victor Cuevas, under PUCT broker registration #BR240033. One rule governs everything on this site: show the math.

How does a teenager end up founding an electricity company?

The honest answer: a confusing electric bill and a kitchen table. Ours didn't add up. The rate wasn't the rate we signed up for, and a "credit" vanished because we used slightly too little electricity. Nobody at the table could explain it.

Brooks took that problem to the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, where students build real businesses, not class projects. The pitch: Texans shouldn't need a spreadsheet and a law degree to know what electricity costs. So this site shows its arithmetic, tells you when you can't switch, and discloses how it gets paid before recommending anything.

Because Brooks is a minor, her dad Victor operates the company and carries the legal responsibility: the broker registration, the compliance, the consequences if we get it wrong. That's why this site is more careful than it has to be.

Why should you trust a comparison site at all?

You probably shouldn't, not on faith anyway. Comparison sites earn commissions from the providers they list, this one included. Most bury that in a footer. We put it before every recommendation, and you never have to take our word for a number:

  • Every ranking shows its arithmetic: rate, delivery fees, and bill credits at your usage.
  • Every plan links to its official Electricity Facts Label so you can check us.
  • Commissions never affect rankings. The cheapest plan for your usage is the cheapest plan, period. The full method is public.
  • If your area isn't deregulated, we say so. No plan list, no false hope.

We're registered with the Public Utility Commission of Texas as broker #BR240033, and our plan data comes from the Compare Power marketplace across all five deregulated utility territories.

Who is behind the site day to day?

Victor Cuevas, operator of Texas Power Search

Victor Cuevas

Operator · PUCT-registered broker #BR240033

Brooks's dad. Runs operations, compliance, and partnerships from Frisco, and answers for every claim this site makes. Skepticism is welcome. Every page can be checked. Find an error? Tell him: victor@texaspowersearch.com.

And the 10%?

Ten cents of every commission dollar, counted off the top before any other expense, goes to The Storehouse of Collin County. The promise was in Brooks's original business plan before the site had a single visitor. Here's how that works.
